Is smoking permitted?
We ask our visitors kindly not to smoke in the house.
When can guests arrive?
The standard check-in period is between 5.00 and 7.00 pm. If you need to arrive earlier or later please let us know the details in advance.
By what time should guests check out?
By 10.00 am.
When is breakfast served?
We serve breakfast between 8.00 & 9.00 a.m.
How far is the city centre?
About one and a half miles.
Can one walk to the city centre?
Yes certainly, it is a lovely scenic walk down the hill and takes less than half an hour. Walking back takes a little longer!
Can one walk to the university?
Yes, it takes about ten minutes.
Is there a convenient bus route into Bath?
The buses that serve this area are the number 18 and 418 services between the University and the bus and railway stations, via the town centre. The current single fare is 90 pence. To get to the nearest bus stop, ten minutes away, walk up North Rd then after Quarry Road on the left turn right down North Lane, a narrow lane that meets Bathwick Hill. Cross the road for the bus stop for Bath. Ask for "Laura Place" or "the Station". When returning, ask to be set down at "the top of Bathwick Hill", walk down North Road, and you are opposite our driveway when you reach the stone gateposts of Ravenscroft.
Can you recommend a local taxi firm?
Taxis at night or in bad weather are a good idea. Abbey Taxis are reliable - 01225 444446.
What is a spinney?
A small wood or thicket.
Why are there pictures of deer on the website?
We often have deer in the garden eating the delicious foliage and fruit.
Is there off-street parking at Hunters Spinney?
Yes we have two spaces outside the front door plus two more outside our garages.
Can we leave the car parked before checking in or after checking out?
Yes usually, by prior arrangement.
Do we need a car if staying at Hunters Spinney?
Not really. Many of our guests have no car and manage fine. They arrive by train or coach and get about by bus and taxi, or on foot.
Do you speak any foreign languages?
Yes: French, some Spanish, a little German and Italian.
Are there any Internet facilities for guests?
All rooms have Wi-fi access to the Internet via broadband, which can be used by guests who bring notebook computers compatible with IEEE 802.11b/g.
Do you accept credit or debit cards?
No, we only accept cash or personal cheques with bankers card.
Do you accept bookings for just one night?
Bookings of more than one night are given preference. Where there are one night gaps in the booking calendar we can accept one night bookings.
I shall arrive by train or coach - how can I find Hunters Spinney?
The easiest way is to take a taxi from the rank at Bath Spa rail station - will cost around £6.
Make sure that you ask for Hunters Spinney, North Road, BATHWICK - as there is another North Road in Bath!
Otherwise the 18/418 University bus will take you to the top of Bathwick Hill, from where it is a 10 minute walk to Hunters Spinney.
Where is a good place to park in Bath?
While you are staying at Hunters Spinney you are welcome to leave the car parked there.
Laura Place has paying places for up to two hours during the day until 6pm, they are free in the evenings and on Sundays.
Otherwise, the Cricket Club carpark on North Parade Road is recommended.
